No Closure for 2012

The Kevin Hendrickson led, Surrey Hotel Management Group has announced that The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel will not close in February 2012 as originally announced but will undergo a phased refurbishment plan in 2012 due to the high demand for hotel rooms for the celebration of Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary.

The Surrey Hotel Management Group began operating the Pegasus on October 28, 2011 and announced major re-development plans for this Kingston landmark. Hendrickson stated that, “As one of Kingston’s preferred hotels, this phased process will minimize any compromise to hotel room availability in the city.”

Hendrickson remarked that the first phase of the plan will incorporate extensive work in the public areas and restaurants, commencing in the first quarter of 2012. Phase two will include upgrades to the bedrooms and meeting rooms. Hendrickson also pointed out that the work will be executed in such a way to ensure minimal disruption to in-house guests and customers.

The hotel is therefore accepting bookings for both room and banqueting events throughout the entire 2012 calendar year.
